You need to know….

The last day for AR tests will be this Friday, May 11. Children can no longer check out books from the library but they will be bringing home books from our classroom library.

We walk to the park this Friday, too. Please make to bring your child’s lunch if you signed up to do so. It’s important to let them wear comfortable clothes and TENNIS SHOES. (Can you tell that’s important??) =D

If they need sunscreen, please make sure you apply it before they get there. You are welcome to walk over with us. We will return after we eat lunch that day.

This week is DIBELS testing and STAR reading testing. We are striving to do our best and I am so proud of all the hard work they’ve done.

There is only 5-A-Day math and reading books. We will also begin checking out books our friends wrote soon! More info coming later!

The latest…

Be sure and check your parent letter every Monday.  It will keep you up to date on all the busy happenings at school.

Our Science tubs ended last week. Thanks so much for completing these with your child. I always hear great things about what you all discover at home.

Welcome Back!!

Dear Parents,

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a blessed Spring Break.  (Felt like summer, huh?) =D   We have a lot going on this week so here’s the agenda:
-Spring pics are this Thursday. That’s all the info I have
-Ozzie came today and talked to us about reading.  Your child has a chance to earn some free things from the Nashville Sounds just by reading.  See your child’s folder for details.
-This Friday is our field trip to the Discovery Center.  If you would like to come with us the cost is $6.  If you will send your money in (by Wednesday), I’ll take care of your ticket.
If I dont get it by Wednesday, then you’ll need to pay the full price to get in.  I only have room for 2 people on the bus.
-Our Spring Break Book Fair begins this Wednesday and goes through next Thursday.
-No school next Friday, April 6 for Good Friday.
We are reviewing long vowels this week:  ee, ea, oa, ai, ay, etc.
Math we will be continuing adding and subtracting tens and ones with regrouping.
Magnets will be what we’re working on in Science.

February 27

This is the last week of this nine weeks.  And…there’s two weeks before Spring Break!!!  WOW! How did that happen???  I am so proud of these children and how hard they’re working.  A big thanks to you, as the parents, too.  =D

If at all possible, please try and have Science tubs returned on Fridays.  We have an angel who comes and fills them for me every Monday and we have been missing several these last few weeks.  Also, if there are any questions on Fluency Folders, please let me know.  Your child reads this passage once every night.  If they read it all before the minute is up, please mark how long it took them.  If they don’t get finished in the minute, they can finish it or you can read it to them so they can answer the questions.  You don’t have to complete the back but it is good practice for your child on needed skills.

This week…

Thank you so much for your hard work with Fluency folders.  This will help your child in many ways.  This week, of course, you’ll just mark out Mondays graph.

Jump Rope for Heart money is due this Friday.  Thanks for helping this worthwhile cause.

Fluency Folders Start Monday:

You will notice that Poetry Folder and Homework folder came home with your child Friday afternoon. We are changing our homework to Fluency Folders. They will come home every Monday for your chlild to read every night. Then return the folder on Friday. There are directions and an example but please feel free to call if you have questions. Your child’s reading is based on their reading level.

Welcome back!!!!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful break!   It ‘s time to get back in the swing of school and learning.  The only homework for this week is reading and fluency sheets.  Please be sure and check your child’s Take Home Folder this week to make sure your informed on all the back to school info.
