Spring Pictures and Field Trip

We will be having Spring Pictures on Friday morning at 8 p.m.

Right after we take our pictures, we will be heading out to our field trip to the Adventure Science Center in Nashville! We are very excited about all the cool things we are going to learn about while we are there.

Remember to dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes. We will eat Subway in the Skyline cafe at ASC. We should be back at school by 1 p.m.

As always, please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns. My number at school is 615-443-1946.

Valentine’s Day Party

Our Valentine’s Day Party will be on Tuesday, February 14 at 1:30 p.m. We will be having an ice cream party. Thanks to several parents, we already have everything we need! Please send in Valentines for your child if you haven’t already. Please leave them blank so we can fill in the names as a group activity! Thanks!

Dinner Party Unit

Next week, we are starting a very FUN unit where we will be planning a dinner party for our class. This unit will cover many subjects, such as Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Health. The students will do ALL of the planning, from coming up with a menu, to making grocery lists from a budget and shopping for groceries!

On Tuesday, December 13 we will take a field trip to Publix to shop for groceries for our dinner party. A permission slip was sent home last week and needs to be returned ASAP.

Our dinner party will be on Thursday, December 15. After we decide on the menu, I will send home a note of things we need if you would like to send something in.

Again, this will be a very FUN unit. I hope it will allow the students to put all we’ve learned so far this year together in real-world context.

Don’t Forget… Christmas Program!

Monday, December 5 and Tuesday, December 6 are the days for the Coles-Ferry Christmas Program. 4th grade will be performing on Monday at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday, 3rd grade will perform at 6 p.m. and 5th grade will perform at 6:30. PLEASE try to attend this with your child!

On that night, we will have two baskets being auctioned off in the library. Both baskets have lots of nice candles, thanks to the donations that were sent in (Thanks!). Please stop by and bid. All money raised will go to our classroom account!

This year, our CDC class will be participating in It’s A Cougar Christmas program on December 5 and 6. Fourth graders will perform on December 5 at 6:30. On December 6 third graders will participate at 6:00, and Fifth graders will participate at 6:30 pm.

Please encourage your child to practice the songs at home. The songs and lyrics are posted on our music teacher’s website (Ms. Martin, http://www.colesferry.org/music/christmas-songs/), or if you would like me to print them out and send them home, just let me know.

Thank you!
