week. We will not be going to Library, Music or Art this week because of
testing. I will allow the students to borrow AR books from our classroom
library this week since there will be no open checkout. The Lebanon Public
library also has a list of AR books at Coles Ferry if you would like to check
out books there.

I am including our last book
orders for the year. It will be a May, June, & summer order. Since there is
so many to choose from I am giving you two weeks to look through and make your
choices. The forms will be due Monday May 7th.

I will not be sending home Homework folders on
Tuesday. They will have a 5-a-day math sheet for the week.

Also, I have noticed that students are not taking tests on their AR
books. Every student should be taking a minimum of 2 tests each week. I will be
including a test summary with the progress reports. Please help your child
remember their reading. The only way to get better is by practicing.

any time this week you would like to come read in our class please let me know.
We would LOVE to have you!

This is also the end of the 3rd 9-weeks (can you believe it?). That means this is the last week to earn AR points for this quarter. I will send home a note with your child’s total points listed today. Each ring of beads for their necklace represents five points. So
if your child earned 5 points last nine weeks they would need to earn a total

Letter from Mrs. Smith

I hope everyone had a nice extra day to your weekend.  I know I
enjoyed relaxing more knowing I had an extra day.

Thank you everyone for my Valentine’s day treats! Also
thank you for sending in the food for our party. The kids seemed excited just
to be able to eat! They also enjoyed handing out their Valentine cards.

I will be sending home poetry and homework folders today.
The homework folder contains a reading passage (for fluency practice) and a
math sheet. Also, please have your child count to 120 this week. We are working
hard to count past 100 in class.

HOMEWORK FOLDERS ARE NOT DUE UNTIL FRIDAY this
week because your child needs to read the passage for one minute each night. On
the recording sheet you need to write the number of words your child read in
one minute. On the last night, you can have your child read the entire passage
so they can answer the questions.

I apologize for not having the spelling sheet for last week. If your child ever forgets to bring one home, just have them practice the words every night and write their sentences on
Thursday.

Have a blessed week-Staci Smith

What We’re Learning About!

Writing- We are still practicing adjectives and using them in our writing to add details.
When your child writes sentences at home have them include adjectives.

Thank you to Katie’s family for donating some class snacks! Also a big thanks goes to all the parents that have volunteered to help with our V-Day party. I am so lucky to have you all.

Please send in your valentine cards. We will pass out our valentines just before the party at 2:00.

I have several students that are working on sight words so they are ready for AR. I also have several students that just started AR. I know schedules are hectic, but please make time to read each night with your child. The more they practice their reading the better
they get. The better they are at reading, the more confident they become, and the more confident they are the more they will want to read. It is a wonderful cycle of reading!

If you would like an updated list of words for your child to practice please
let me know.
I will not be sending home AR reports this week. Our computers received much
needed updates last week & I am not able to print those just yet.

Thank you for all of your help with our 100th day homework. I hope the students were able to make memories that will last a lifetime.
