May 14th-18th

Theme: Off to Kindergarten

Weekly Theme:

This week we will be starting our review of the year and doing some things that will help us transition into Kindergarten next year! We will be visiting all of the Kindergarten classrooms this week for a sneak peek into the Kindergarten world! We will also be visiting special classes to help us prepare for them next year! Talk to your child about next year! Ask them questions about what they saw during our visits to the Kindergarten classroom.

 

Reminders:

  • Sign up for the PreK Picnic in the park! The sign up sheet is beside the sign in book. The Picnic is May 24th from 9-12. You will not report to school that day but you will go straight to the park.  Please note that this picnic is for PreK students and their family but you are responsible for the supervision of your child during the picnic! We have been asked to suggest you bring some lawn chairs or blankets for your family seeing as we will have all PreK classes and their family at the park and seating is limited. We hope you and your family will be able to join us! It will be a lot of fun.

 

  • Field Day is Monday- May 21st- Please read the note about field day.

 

  • If there are any parents that would have time and would like to volunteer in our classroom we have a few jobs that we could use some help with to prepare for the end of the year. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Ms. Meghan’s Weekly News Letter

May 7th-11th

Theme: Reptiles and Insects

Weekly Theme:

This week we will be talking about insects and reptiles. We will be reading books and writing facts about things we learned from the books. In our hospital centers we will be learning how to problem solve with pretend scenarios and role- playing different roles. This will be our last full week of our centers.

 

Reminders:

  • Show and Tell on Friday.
  • Children’s progress reports will be coming home this week so watch for them in your child’s folder.
  • Information about the end of the year will also be coming home.

Upcoming Events:

  • Field Trip to the Park and Library- Tuesday, May 8th.

 

  • Last day at School- Wednesday May 23rd

 

  • Prek Picnic in the Park- Thursday May 24th. Students will report to park with families for our picnic. You must stay with your child and provide transportation. This is the last official day of school.

Theme: Growing and Changing

Letter: U. u

Weekly Theme:

This week our theme will be “Growing and Changing”. We will be learning about things that grow and change over time. We will be especially focusing on the Butterfly. We will be learning about the life cycle of the butterfly! We will be reading books and learning new vocabulary about life cycles. We will also be developing our knowledge about Hospital for our hospital centers. There is so much great vocabulary for this theme! Talk about hospital words at home with your child. Talk about people that work there and what they do. You can also talk about things you may see in a hospital.

 

Reminders:

  • Please turn in Kindergarten Registration form BY Friday of this week. –If I have all of your updated information including shots and physical by next Friday then you will not have to go to Kindergarten registration on May 3rd. If not you will have to go to registration on May 3rd at College Hills Church Christ.
  • Field Day shirt money is due Friday if you would like to order one.

  • Last day students come to school- May 23rd
  • Prek in the Park is the official last day- May 24th. Students do not come to school but go with Families to Don Fox Park for the picnic.

Theme: Growing and Changing

Weekly Theme:

  • Kindergarten Registration- Is May 3rd- A registration form will be coming home in your child’s folder either Thursday or Friday. PLEASE RETURN by NEXT Friday. Fill out packet. I will then attach all documents that you gave us at the beginning of the year. IF you have ALL documents complete- INCLUDING the updated kindergarten ready immunization form then you do not have to go to registration on May 3rd. However, if you do not have ALL forms including an updated kindergarten ready immunization form then you MUST go to registration on May 3rd. Bring forms and proof of residency with you.

Theme: Easter

Tools Theme: Hospital

Letter: S, s

Weekly Theme:

This week we will be reading books about Easter and Bunnies. It’s a perfect time to go along with our spring theme from last week! We will be reading Peter Rabbit and sequencing the events of the story. We will also be making art projects for Easter! On Thursday we will have our spring party. We will be dying eggs and having an Easter snack. This week we are also starting our play theme of “Hospital”. Our centers have been set up and this week we will be introducing hospital and starting to explore the centers! We will continue to build on our knowledge of hospital through out the 9 weeks. We will also continue to develop our centers to facilitate our play!

 

 

Reminders:

  • Spring Party on Thursday at 12:30 after returning from Cumberland University.
  • No School Friday.

Theme: Spring

Tools Theme: Grocery

Weekly Theme:

This week we will be learning about the season of Spring! We will be learning about the season and discussing things that happen during the spring! We will be reading books about spring and learning new vocabulary. This will be our last week of Grocery Store in our make believe play practice. Next week we will be starting “Hospital”. If you have anything you could contribute to our props or roles props for hospital we would greatly appreciate your contributions! The 6 centers in our hospital theme will be: ER, Pharmacy, Nursery, Life Flight, Gift shop, and Cafeteria. Also if you have any books about Hospital that you would like to share with the class we would love to read those as well. This would help us learn to play in our hospital centers!

Reminders:

  • Spring Pictures are Thursday March 29th.
  • Please send blankets back
  • Check folders for important papers
  • Send progress reports back signed.

Theme: Dr. Seuss/Read Across America

Letter: Q, q

Weekly Theme:

We will be continuing our theme on Dr. Seuss this week. We have had a lot of fun reading his books! Since the students have enjoyed Dr. Seuss as an author so much I have decided to let us continue on our study of him. This week we will be reading even more Dr. Seuss books. We will also be making Green Eggs and Ham and trying it! We are working on rhyming words a lot. The children have really enjoyed coming up with rhyming words during this unit! Rhyming is something you can work on just about anywhere and it’s a great skill to start preparing your child for Kindergarten!

 

Reminders:

  • If you have concerns and would like to sign up for a Parent-Teacher conference please do so on the sheet by the sign in book.
  • I will be posting something about our spring party as well.
  • Please sign the permission slip for the field trip and send back to school.
  • Blankets need to be sent back every week!
