September 24^th- September 28^th

Theme: Community Helpers

Tools Theme: Family

Weekly Theme:

This week we will be talking about Community Helpers. We will be discussing people in our community that help keep us safe and healthy. We will be reading lots of books about community helpers and on Friday a fire truck will be visiting our school! Talk to your child about how different community helpers help us and our community. Also, talk about fire safety. Come up with a plan and a meeting place if your home was to ever catch fire. We will also be going into the “fire house” on Friday to learn about fire safety!

Reminders:

• Parent- Teacher conferences are on Thursday. Please sign up for a conference if you have not done so already. Everyone please sign up for a conference. They will only last about 15 minuets.
• Please check your child’s folder nightly. Thank you!
• If your child is going to be sick we would appreciate it if you could call the school and let us know the morning of. The PreK number is 615-547-0119. That will take you directly to our PreK classroom.

Weekly Theme:

This week our theme will be on neighbors. We will be talking about neighbors, neighborhoods, different types of homes, and different types of families and cultures during this theme. We will be connecting our learning to a lot of great social studies standards! We are also continuing our theme on Family for our pretend play centers. This week we will be learning more about how to play in the centers and making verbal plans. Next week we will begin to “play plan” (drawing and writing our plans), which we are very excited about!

Reminders:

• GRANDPARENTS DAY- I have talked to the cafeteria and they WILL be allowing us to eat lunch in the cafeteria for Grandparents day at 10:15!!! This is a change- we are eating at 10:15 so that the cafeteria may accommodate us. If the grandparents would like to eat they will need to pay for their meal. Also, unfortunately we cannot permit any outside food on this day. Our Pre-K meal policy prevents us from eating anything other than what is offered from the Cafeteria. Thank you for your understanding! J

Theme: “We are Friends”

Tools Theme: Family

Theme:

This week we will be talking about friends. We will be discussing how all friends are different and what makes a good or “super friend”. We will be reading books about friends in our literacy small groups. We are continuing our theme on Family as our Tools of the Mind theme. We are working hard together to make our “Family” theme centers! All of our centers are being transformed into a certain room of a house- Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom, Laundry Room, Living Room, and Garage. After we finish putting these centers together we will begin to pretend play in those centers. You can help your child at home by talking to them and introducing new vocabulary about families and homes. Talk about what families do in each of these rooms.

Reminders:

• PLEASE check your child’s folder every night for important information! J
• Send blankets back on Mondays
• Show and Tell on Fridays (If we do not have school on Friday for some reason we will not have show and tell that week)
• Thanks for all your hard work on our special person box! We have loved seeing them! If its your turn with the special person box please send it back the next day.
• Please be on time for drop off and pick up.

Theme: “School and Rules”

Theme:

Welcome to Pre-K! I am very excited to get this year started and I cannot wait to get to know your children! The first week of school our theme will be all about school. We will be focusing and learning the procedures and rules of the school. We will be doing a lot of practicing of our procedures in order to set up success for the rest of the year! We will be reading books about school, learning new vocabulary as well as doing some art projects.

Reminders:

• Dismissal- We dismiss at the back of the school at 1:30. Please be on time to pick your child up. If it is raining we will be right inside the door in the hallway.
• PLEASE check your child’s folder every night for important information!
• Show and Tell on Fridays (If we do not have school on Friday for some reason we will not have show and tell that week)
• Remember to sign in every morning and every afternoon.
• Blankets will be sent home every other Friday to be washed and please send them back on Monday. If you have not sent in a blanket for your child, please send them with one ASAP. Thank you!
